Drug Sniffing Tunnel Ferrets (aka Robots)
Bots are continuing to take over the world – at least according to Bauer, but these bots are underground drug ferrets basically. How cool to have these self-driving devices that can even go outside of radio communication range, then be sure to come back in range to tell you what it found?
The DEA and other agencies use these, as well as private companies for a variety of applications, but what better than drug sniffing robots? These babies measure the chemicals in the air during their journey, as well a create real-time views of the whole deal – and overlay it onto Google Maps.
Using special intelligence software developed at Idaho National Laboratory that can be mounted on different machines, the iRobot and Foster Miller robots use lasers to situate themselves in the dark tunnels that have been bored beneath the line that divides Mexico from the United States.
Next, the robotic colonoscopy for Bauer’s bachelor party?
