With this nForce 790i SLI Digital PWM mainboard, EVGA has gone to extreme measures to create a killer board for the most extreme gamers. It’s based on the NVIDIA nForce 790 SLI chipset and designed for Intel Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Quad, Pentium EE, and Pentium processors (including 45nm). Featuring an EVGA enthusiast BIOS for extended range voltage settings, 100% solid state capacitors, 100% ferrite core chokes and an advanced 8 phase digital PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) power supply solution, this high-performance platform delivers incredible overclocking. The EVGA 790i SLI FTW Digital PWM works flawlessly with extreme FSB (1600/1333/1066/800MHz) and DDR3 speeds (2000/1600/1333/1066MHz), and 3-WAY SLI! Plus, true 2 x16 PCI-Express and PCI Express 2.0. Check out the specs just make sure you’re sitting down. This ATX board supports dual-channel DDR3 memory wtih EPP up to 8GB and also supports up to 20000MHz SLi-ready memory, SATA II with RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5, and JBOD, 7.1-channel audio, DUAL Gigabit LAN, USB 2.0, and IEEE 1394. This board even set 4 new performance world records at NVIDIA’s NVISION in August 2008.

[..YouTube..] Yep, that’s all I can say. You don’t mention the Mhz or anything of your RAM, but as long as it’s recent and its Corsair that isn’t whats your problem, and even then it usually isn’t the RAM that bottlenecks the GPU, it’s more often the CPU. Definitely get AT LEAST a dual-core, but yeah, the way tech is going everything new is gonna be quad.

[..YouTube..] Runnin Corsair 800mhz,
ram is only 1 month old, so newer. The 3.73ghz cpu IS a dual core but I guess the core architecture is the bottleneck as you stated. Thanks again!

[..YouTube..] Hell ya nice review, i want this motherboard so bad, but its expensive as hellll- If i were to pay that much for a motherboard i would just save up all my loot and buy a new Core i7 and X58 motherboard and a ATI HD 4870X2 Graphics card and sell my current Intel Core 2 Quad 3.4GHZ, EVGA 8800GT SuperClocked then Highly Overclocked GPU’s,4GB ram,Dual Displays a 22″ High Definition WideScreen LCD paired with a 19″ HD WideScreen LCD, Antec 900 Case Rev 2.0.

[..YouTube..] 790i FTW PWM this one. This has PWM and only has 1 capacitor which is Solid Sate. 790i Ultra isn’t. So to a normal guy that doesn’t know much about computers. 790i FTW PWM = More space to expand, less crowded by wires, The CPU fan (CPU cooler) blows to the side which means more hot air leading out of the back of the system and more over clocking. The only bad thing is that I’m pretty sure Ultra has more x1 PCI.

[..YouTube..] is this motherboard compatible with the extreme power 650w coolermaster power supply because i cannot find the 8 pin socket to connect to the top left power socket on the mother board any help would be great thanks
January 20th, 2009 at 1:20 am
[..YouTube..] If you don’t have a 8-pin, i suppose you will have a 4-pin cable…you plug it on the right side of the 8-pin socket

[..YouTube..] how much? what form factor (atx, microATX, BTX??) and what processors does it work with
January 20th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
[..YouTube..] thanks dude i got it working = D
January 20th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
[..YouTube..] How much?…That depends on where you live (country)

[..YouTube..] how the stability on the board (I ask because my las 790i was a striker II extreme) and that was a VERY VERY unstable board and so I have read and heard of. So if you can tell me of the stability on the 790i or 790i FTW or even the 780i FTW, boards.
