Unfortunately this is not a joke. :[ I wish it was... I wish i could walk over to his cubicle and see him editing away at com.puter.tv videos, or secretly updating his blog with random shenanigans. Alfred was not only a co-worker, but a friend and dare I say a brother in my eyes. He was a truly compassionate person and I wish you would've had the honor of knowing him.

Here is the story, edited because the News got his name wrong :[

Miami man dies in Pembroke Pines car accident

By Andrew Ba Tran | South Florida Sun-Sentinel
    1:38 PM EDT, April 19, 2009

PEMBROKE PINES - A 22-year-old Miami Springs man died following a two-car accident early this morning, police said.

Alfredo Becerra was in the right-rear passenger seat of a 2008 Nissan heading west on Pines Boulevard near the 10800 block when a 2006 Nissan SUV struck the Nissan from behind at about 3:40 a.m., according to a release from Pembroke Pines police.

Becerra's vehicle lost control and ran into a tree in the median. Driver Eddy Aleman, 24, of Miami Springs, and passengers Wendy Rios, 26, of Hialeah and Christopher Maranjes, 23, of Miami, were taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Becerra died at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood as a result of his injuries, police said.

The driver of the 2006 Nissan SUV, Oscar Pineiro, 17, of Pembroke Pines was also taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries. Officials did not release any information on charges.
