Projectors are cheap, but low res. Try a good 50" plasma or 42" Plasma + Home PC.

No LCDs though, they aren't as good.

They're not native, they're upscaled from 1280x720, not to mention that the picture quality won't be as good as a Plasma.

I can recommend Panasonic for plasmas, but it aint going to be cheap.

Yeah that is my problem. Parents just pushed in tones of cash and I want a home theater in my basement. Even a small one is okay because I might be making a studio from the half of it. Anyways, I have to soundproof it and all that shit. Thats why I was looking into projectors.

You can go with a projector.

But never ever ever skimp on the audio.

Get at least a decent Onkyo or Yamaha Receiver, Harmon Kardon and Denon are welcome, but those are pricey.

Get some good speakers too, and do some research, Home Theaters aren't cheap.

Really? Sony Bravias use Samsung Panels, LED backlit TVs are way too expensive, and they still have problems, wait till it matures.

I'm for the Panasonic Plasmas. And for the love of god, DO NOT buy a Sony Reciever or speakers, stick to Yamaha, Klipsch and Cerwin Vega.

$3k is adequate, $1k for the projector, $2k for the rest of the audio equipment.

No Monster Cables too.

EDIT: I take that back, upon seeing you budget, I'd suggest getting a 42" samsung LCD($1500) + Sony $400 Reciever + JBL Speakers + Sub.

That's a lie, even the most expensive LCDs can't match with a plasma, the LCDs (especially Samsung ones) are pre-calibrated for the uber-vibrant colors, it's really hard to tell which one is better at best buy or other stores.

I prefer LCD's over plasma's, that's in my opinion.
