My friend is looking for a cheap router to host his on small 360 Lan party for Halo 3, COD4, and Gears of War.
What would be a good small switch or router he could get for this?
In short terms his limit is ebay and $30.

Or go cheap and get a wireless G router.

No need to count ethernet ports if everyone has a wireless adapter.

Of course not. It's a router. The only reason you'd need Wireless G though is because the 360 adapters can't detect N.

Or just get a bunch of ethernet routers. And yes wired is faster.
