A friend from my work took it to a shop where they tested it.

Now i know the problem which is good but they dropped my spire cooler and 2 of the heatpipes are slightly dented. Shouldn't affect the cooling I don't think. I'm gonna get an Athlon 250 this time and can you guys recommend a reasonable quality PSU for around £40 that will power my system. Something less than 500W but still has a PCI-E connector.

Corsair CX-400 I'd say. Wait, how much is that in USD?

At least get the HX/TX-520.

I'd opt for the HX-650 though, it's quite a bit more, but it's worth it if you're planning to get anything that requires a high power envelope.

If you could go for an HX 520 (don't think there's a TX) that'd be great, but, budget constraints. At least if he gets the 400W it's not very much, and therefore not a lot of money is sunk when he has to change it for a more powerful model.

I'm not planning to do anything ith anything similar to the power of a HD5850. I might put one of the HD56** series cards in or even a hd57** series card. I'm really not looking forward to spending over £60 on a PSU in a system which probably won't even need it.

I would opt for something that's more powerful than the HD56xx.

But at any rate a good PSU can last you through builds, so spending a bit more isn't too big a problem.

Seeing as you don't want to spend too much indeed the 400w is fine.

From the 785G board it sounds like he's using the IGP.
