I have to say that Asus isnt the best for a CPU cooler...would rather get a OCZ Gladiator max2 or the thermalright true black 120 or the CM v8/v10

The included fan is 120mm, that gives you an idea of how huge that thing is.

It may be necessary. It's a good fan, no doubt, but pushing air through two fin sets is a lot of work. Ultimately why the V8 failed. Well, part of the reason.

Though to be fair you haven't seen the performAnce on this one. There's also a similar Noctua one that will come out soon and looks promising.
