The Dell U2410.
The Dell U2711(WASTE OF MONEY)
The Dell 3008WFP(needs dual link DVI, 2560x1600)
The NEC LCD3090WQXi
The HP LP2475W
The NEC LCD2490WUXi(not the WUXi2)
The NEC LCD2690WUXi(WUXi 2 works as well).
The Dell 3007WFP-HC
Those are the best that come to mind when someone mentions it.

Although really, more important than size is resolution; a 28" monitor won't show any more than a 24" monitor because they'll both run at 1920 x 1200. Everything's just bigger.

1080p was so 2005.
2560x1600 is where it's at for those with beastly graphics cards. Namely you.
So get the LCD3090WQXi, the Dell 3008WFP or the Dell 3007WFP-C.
Or the Dell U2711 with it's odd 2560x1440 resolution, although it costs almost as much as the 30" anyways, so take that plunge instead of the 27" one.

2 x 5970s.
And 2560 x 1600 is the best...unless you go for Eyefinity. Pick up 3 24-inchers and you'd be in gamer-heaven. Maybe a few NEC EA231WMIs? Seem to be the best price/quality ratio out right now.

I'd go with that..
Although 3x U2410s are WAY more appealing.

But about twice as expensive.
That I can't deny but it's about 1.75x more awesome with that H-IPS panel. Still the E-ips is nothing to scoff at.
When all's said though, I prefer a single 30" monitor, eyefinity can go to hell for all I care, a 30" monitor is large enough and has no need for software implementation. Win win right there.
Plus it's a bit cheaper when you really factor in the costs of finding a displayport 24" monitor.

EA231WMI's got a Displayport. Either way it's only an extra $100 on top of the monitor cost, which would be close to $1000+ anyway, depending.

I'd still say grab the 30" monitor, you don't have to deal with all that fiddly software.
Plus eventually they'll make a 3x30" option someday, which will be just plain awesome.

Isn't it currently an option right now, it's just that there's no graphics setup in existence that can run games at good settings on that type of monitor arrangement?

Probably the first one, at a whopping 7680x1600 you'd run out of pixels pretty soon. That's 12,288,000 pixels!
