Hi Albert, Bauer and Randy.

I am pretty sure you know what is Hardware Acceleration

What is Hardware Acceleration?

Hardware Acceleration is a method where the gpu decodes HD content the cpu transfers it to gpu. GPu does the most work. In a Very Good Hardware Acceleration Cpu Usage is around 2% to 5% when running 1080p rips or blu ray discs. Cpu runs cool and quiet. I want it at least 20% will do. plz help me how can i do that?

My laptop Specs are given below

Acer Aspire 7720G

C2D T7500 2.2 GHZ 4MB L2 cache
320 GB HD
2GB DDR 2 667 Ram
17inch display
GeForce 8600M GT 512 MB DDR2 RAM Graphics with turbocache

OS Vista Ultimate SP1 X64-Bit

The reason I want to do it because when i watched any 1080p or 720p encode for trailers or videos in .mov or .mkv format for straight 15 mins using cccp codec there is no lag and the cpu usage was around 45% to 60% max i touched my keyboard panel in my laptop and it was really hot i mean i keep running it for another 30 mins it would fry or burn the motherboard. It runs really hot.

Heres my Experience Running in Various Players/Codecs

1. Tried Coreavc codecs ran both 720p and 1080p cpu usage 45% to 55% adn runs hot.

2.Tried cccp codec runs both 720p and 1080p fine without lag cpu usage is 45% to 55% but no hardware acceleration plz tell me how to do it and the volume of sound is really low. Either have to use speakers or have to use headphones. Which audio filter or how can i increase audio volume?

3. Tried VLC player excellent Audio no need for speakers but the video lags and stutters every 1 or 2 mins pixelation occurs. No hardware acceleration sound is good but cpu usage is 60% to even 85% when there is high action scene or special effect scene . VLC was the best but only problem is lag because of cpu usage is high.

some other questions which are:

1. Can I Add an External Blu Ray Rom to my Laptop? I Run my Laptop under Cyberlinks BD/HDDVD Advisor and all the requirements were met but the thing is will it give me smooth playback of blu ray discs? no lags whatsoever?

2. While running blu ray discs does the playback is automatically hardware accelerated when running it in cyberlink powerdvd ultra version 8?

My cheapest solution is I buy the internal LG BD ROM and buy a 5.25inch enclosure or SATA to USB 2.0 cable to make it external.
Can it work? Can it play Blu Rays and HDDVDs Smoothly?? without lag any reviews or proofs? then this would coolest but i have doubts.

I think your talking about something like FASTRA or CUDA.  Adobe Photoshop/Everything CS4 now has the option to you your graphics card for rendering cause it\'s a billion times faster.

And in FASTRA then used CUDA to tun 4 GX2\'s into a supercomputer that beat CalUA in a few tests, and if they used 4 4870x2\'s, they\'d beat  CalUA in everything by far. Smiley

Is that what you were talking about or did misunderstand?

I think he\'s talking about the actual hardware.
