Hauppauge 1212 HD PVR
HD PVR is the worlds first High-Definition video recorder for making real-time H.264 compressed recordings at resolutions up to 1080i. [..YouTube..] If my satellitte receiver/recorder box outputs Standard Defintion video as MPEG2, does this unit convert on the fly to H.264?
Will I have to convert every file i record (onto my computer) back to MPEG2 to burn on a DVD? Or, does it have an option to keep incoming video as default?

[..YouTube..] Dude, Thank you so much!!!
I debating between this and the dazzle and want to know if this is worth the extra $125.
However I have a question of my own, I have a Mac and am planning on recording these clips onto a mac. That software that was included in the box, is that mac compatible?
I know the dazzle has seperate devices for mac and windows, but does this work for both?
Thanks in advance!

[..YouTube..] GNU/Linux drivers are in some SVN, according to TLLTS… Linc kompiled it, and dumped some video on to his hard drive via cat.
February 14th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
[..YouTube..] could someone answer the following pls?
can you record onto a Mac?
and whats the best/easiest set up if your Mac/PC is away from your TV/XBox etc? Xbox into Hauppaueg and stream wireless to your PC? if so, what kit is needed?
Many thanks
February 15th, 2009 at 9:44 pm
[..YouTube..] does this work with apples?
February 16th, 2009 at 10:06 pm
[..YouTube..] As someone stated earlier, this would have been an excellent product if it featured onboard recording capabilities and a USB port for connecting external drives.
I’d rather not burden my PC with the actual recording process.

[..YouTube..] can i use this on my laptop?
March 26th, 2009 at 8:58 am
[..YouTube..] Yes, you can use it for your laptop.
March 26th, 2009 at 9:14 am
[..YouTube..] I purchased this product for only €130 Euro. It works for XBox and PlayStation 3 aswell. I tried it for the PS3. There is also a software included. The only thing you need to buy seperate in order to record your XBox or PlayStation 3 online gaming is another set of component cables. But not like the ones that are included. For PS3 there is an official Sony Component cable. Just google for “Sony AV Component Cable”. Bought mine for like €30 Euro.
March 26th, 2009 at 9:14 am
[..YouTube..] The component cable coming from your Ps3/XBox goes into the Input of your HD PVR Recorder. The component cable that comes with the product connects the Input of the HD TV and the Output of the Recorder.
YOu only need the seperate component cable if you want to play on TV and record on PC/Laptop. If you play on Laptop there will most likely be lag.
Also, when you want to play on TV make sure your PS3 display settings are set to 720p.
March 26th, 2009 at 9:15 am
[..YouTube..] Otherwize the software only shows you a black screen. After you have done that your software should get the HD signal. Keep in mind that the graphics on your TV will look shite due to the resolution being 720p. But that’s how it goes when you want to play on your TV.
I recorded some test videos and the only problem I had was that the video itself had heavy lag. As my laptop was recording it there was only like 1-2 seconds lag. I will have to ask the YouTube user “Hjerpseth”.
March 26th, 2009 at 9:15 am
[..YouTube..] For any questions feel free to PM me since I don’t think I will check this video again.
